Return to the farm to craft delicious meals featuring local ingredients along with your foraged finds, and spend evenings under the stars with high quality humans in the Embark maple forest.

About the ramp romp

The Ramp Romp Ride is a playful human-powered exploration of our watershed and the unique, delicious and interesting ecosystem we are a part of. We will be exploring by foot, bike, and packraft (optional) through the beautiful hills of the Driftless region of Wisconsin, then bring our foraged finds back to the farm to craft wood-fired pizzas and other amazing meals!

Full Weekend Admission includes two nights of rustic camping, a half-day sustainable foraging hike through the unique ecosystems of our region, and an afternoon choose your own adventure, including options for a curated bike adventure, a trail run through the maple woods, and and in-depth foraging and cooking workshops, as well as an optional Friday evening bikeraft/ paddle adventure (bring your own boat). Five meals featuring local & foraged foods are included in weekend admission.

We’ve added a half weekend option this year for folks who can’t stay the whole weekend but want a taste of that rampy goodness! Half weekend admission includes two meals, one night of camping and a day of adventures!

What to Bring & Plan FOr

EVERYBODY

  • Weather gear! Rain, sleet, snow & sun, we'll be playing outside having fun!! We'll be packing rain wear and wearing wool. Fast drying layers that can be swapped out as needed are good, as is a dry place to store them when not in use.

  • Trail-worthy footwear

  • Pocket knife or scissors for harvesting; gloves for nettles if you’d like.

  • Small canvas/breathable bag for your foraged finds

  • Cup or water bottle; camp dishes (Plate, bowl, spoon, fork)

  • Cash if you'd like to purchase Embark products. Meals are included in admission.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

Trail Run

  • Trekking poles are a great idea!

Cooking/ Preserving Workshops

  • No extra gear needed

Bike Adventure

  • A bike! We’ll be doing an afternoon group ride, some on rural roads, some through fields and logging trails. Doesn’t have to be fancy, but chunky tires are probs a good idea.

  • GPS, phone with map or "Gazeteer style" paper map in a baggie and compass. We won't leave you behind, but if you're speedy you can ride ahead and do hill repeats.

  • Basic bike tools, or specific bike tools. We're competent cobblers, so you won't get stranded.

Bikeraft/ Paddle (Friday)

  • Packraft or canoe & paddle. And a PFD.

  • Bike to shuttle back to the start. We can arrange a vehicle shuttle if needed, but bikes are more fun :-)

  • Straps to secure bike to boat.

CAMPERS

  • We have hike/bike-in primitive/backcountry style tenting opportunities, car/van camping is cool too as are small single-axle campers. We’ll be making & serving meals, it would be dandy if you could bring your own reusable camp dishes.

Pets who love to Romp

The Embark farm is “Friendly Pet Friendly”. Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome in the woods and around the farm, but must be kept out of the Sugar House and kitchen tents/ areas.

Critters that can’t get along with others or resist the temptations of the food processing areas will be asked to leave.

We will be returning to the farm Saturday mid-day and evening, but may be gone for several hour stretches. Be considerate of your buddy’s needs while you’re away.

Volunteers ARE AWESOME.

We would LOVE to have some folks out to lend a hand!

Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities.
