  • EVERYBODY

    • Weather gear! Rain, sleet, snow & sun, we'll be riding bikes having fun!! We'll be packing rain wear and wearing wool. Fast drying layers that can be swapped out as needed are good, as is a dry place to store them when not in use.

    • A bike! We’ll be doing a morning group ride with foraging stops along the way, some on rural roads, some through fields and logging trails. Doesn’t have to be fancy, but chunky tires are probs a good idea.

    • Pocket knife or scissors for harvesting; gloves for nettles if you’d like.

    • -Small canvas/breathable bag for your foraged finds
      - Cup or water bottle; camp dishes (Plate, bowl, spoon, fork)

    • GPS, phone with map or "Gazeteer style" paper map in a baggie and compass. We won't leave you behind, but if you're speedy you can ride ahead and do hill repeats.

    • Basic bike tools, or specific bike tools. We're competent cobblers, so you won't get stranded.

    • Cash if you'd like to purchase Embark products. All meals are included in admission.

    CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

    • Packraft & paddle for the Bikerafting set. And a PFD.

    • Trail-worthy footwear for the running & hiking set

    • GPS technology of your choice for the Big Bike Ride and Big Trail Run.

    CAMPERS

    • We have hike/bike-in primitive/backcountry style tenting opportunities, car/van camping is cool too as are small single-axle campers.

Am I up for a Romp? Tell me about the bike ride.

The Ramp Romp Ride traverses the hills and valleys of the Driftless Region on a mixture of field paths, paved country roads and gravel. We have hosted a range of cyclists from distance record holders to folks who found a bike in their parents’ garage the weekend before. No matter your experience, if you are willing to give it a go, you belong here.

I’m interested in foraging, tell me more…

The Embark Maple Woods is a truly magical place with abundant opportunities to sustainably forage. Embark’s Bree has had a passion for foraging her whole life, and will be guiding workshops on foraging, cooking & preserving foraged foods.
