Howdy! A re-introduction to B&E

Howdy good people of the Internet!  We thought this would be a good time to re-introduce ourselves and give a little background on the people and farm behind the Embark deliciousness you enjoy!  We are Bree & Eric (and Sylvan!), a maple farming family in the driftless region of Wisconsin.

The three of us are spending our first winter in our off-grid “little house” on the farm, and are looking forward to sharing some of the pros and cons of raising a toddler in a 320 square foot home we built by hand.  It’s sure to be an adventure!

Some of you may know us as B&E of B&E’s Trees- Embark is still us! We recently changed the name to clear up confusion (“B&E’s” sounds like “Bees” but we’ve got maple, not honey), and when we came up with the name Embark we knew we’d hit on something that embodies the spirit of adventure of our farm.  So Embark it is!

We’ve been maple farming since 2012, first launching our Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup in collaboration with Central Waters Brewing Co. and more recently our Maple Energy in Salted Maple, Coffee Maple and Elderberry Maple varieties.  We currently tap around 4,000 trees and support a tiny team of 5- the two of us, Laura who rides bikes and makes sales, Brandie who hikes, kayaks and makes us look good, and Justin who disc golfs and ships all the deliciousness to all the best places.

Our farm and company are built on a passion for the outdoors and sharing the Good Energy we find there.  We care deeply about sustainability in both how we manage our certified organic land as well as how we operate our 1% for the Planet business.  We are committed to doing our part to make the outdoors accessible and welcoming to everyone.

So that’s us!  How about you?  Where did you first learn about Embark?
