  • You can do it! You should do it!

The hills are big and rugged- The scramble is designed to be interesting and accomplishable to most everyone, from seasoned trail runners exploring the unique experience of a maple woods in harvest, to folks pushing themselves to get more active in beautiful places. There are snack stops where you can refresh every kilometer or so. We’re considering adding a “Long Loop” for folks who can’t get enough.

It’s fun. It’s silly. You belong here.

  • We recommend good shoes, hiking poles and play clothes- chances are you’ll get muddy!

Bring a sense of adventure, a water bottle, and your best directional awareness. The scramble is through the woods on old logging trails, not clearly marked and maintained paths, so there is an element of “way-finding” via the ribbons and foxes distributed along the route.

  • Scramble: Starts at 1pm, and takes 1-3 hours for most folks to loop through. There’s some good snacks out there.

Sugar House Tour: There will be Sugar House tours following the scramble.

Deliciousness: Embark products will be available for sale, along with wood-fired pizzas and beverages.

Friendly Humans: We’ll have a hot tent, yard games, and friendly humans to socialize with. Hang out and be our friends!

  • Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome in the woods and around the farm, but must be kept out of the Sugar House and kitchen tents.

On Sunday folks are invited to stick around, explore the farm and lend a hand in the woods.

The farm will be open for camping Friday-Sunday.

  • You can do it! You should do it!

Last year we had bikes worth more than my old car and bikes that were recently foraged from a dumpster. This is an adventure for everyone.

The 2024 route is under development, but will be mostly paved country roads, with off-road and single track optional segments, and stops for foraging and exploration throughout. We have some serious hills in the Driftless- there will be significant climbs with no shame in walking. The route is a loop starting and ending at our farm; it will be a full day out playing bikes, foraging, eating, experiencing and celebrating the unique place we call home.

  • - Weather gear!! Rain, sleet, snow & sun, we'll be riding bikes having fun!! We'll be packing rain wear and wearing wool. Fast drying layers that can be swapped out as needed are good, as is a dry place to store them when not in use.
    - Pocket knife or scissors for harvesting
    - Small canvas/breathable bag for your foraged finds
    - Gloves for nettle harvest
    - Cup or water bottle
    - Cash if you'd like to purchase a beverage with lunch, Legacy does accept cards too
    - GPS, phone with map or "Gazeteer style" paper map in a baggie and compass. We won't leave you behind, but if you're speedy you can ride ahead and do hill repeats.
    - Basic bike tools, or specific bike tools. We're competant cobblers, so you won't get stranded. Unless you're mean.

  • Lots of camping options here, with basecamp being a small intimate secluded field. We have hike/bike-in primitive/backcountry style tenting opportunities, car/van camping is cool too as are small single-axle campers.

We live here off-grid, so everything is rurally rustic. Be prepared. We'll provide a portapotty, jugs of drinking water, an assortment of fires, 20x40 "community" tent space to chill under, eat, dry things off, etc. There will not be electricity available at RampCamp.

Parking is about a quarter mile from RampCamp, so some transport of gear via foot or bike or kite will be necessary. If you need special vehicle arrangements to camp please shoot us a message, our parking options get somewhat limited if its really wet, but we can find space to fit everyone in if we plan.

  • Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome in the woods and around the farm, but must be kept out of the kitchen tents. Keep in mind we’ll be away from the farm the majority of Saturday, so plan for your pal accordingly.

The Tap Pull

The Sunday after Ramp Romp

  • The Tap Pull is a post-syrup-season get together to wrap up the season and get the woods ready for the next year. We will provide tasty foods and tools, and we will head to the woods to pull taps, clean things up, and enjoy the beauty (and deliciousness) of the season.
